Throughout the year we arrange a wide variety of events for heart children, their parents and siblings. These events help to reduce isolation, improve local support networks and enable families to meet others in a similar situation.
Treatment and care can feel very different when families leave the specialist surgical centre and need help locally. Families gain support from talking to and connecting with people who have experienced a similar journey to them. In addition to our own events, we also encourage our volunteer community contacts to arrange small local gatherings for groups of parents and children.
Parents frequently tell us how much they value ECHO events and consider them a key part of the service we provide to support heart families.
We need volunteers to help organise and run our events. If you’re interested in helping, please get in touch to find out more.
Each year we host events in a number of locations across London and the surrounding counties, to bring together families of children with heart conditions, enabling people to form friendships and access support.
Working in partnership with Evelina London we host information days for young people who are about to transition to adult services. We give them the opportunity to ask questions and to find out how things will change as they move towards more independent cardiac care.
We provide events specifically for siblings of children with heart conditions, enabling them to interact with others in a similar situation, form friendships and access support. We also organise arts & crafts days for siblings of children currently staying at Evelina London during school holidays.
We also host an annual party for children and their families staying at Evelina London. Working closely with Evelina London’s play specialists we aim to provide a fun-filled afternoon in the hospital. We’ve had magic shows, superhero photo booths, themed arts & crafts and gorgeous tea parties.
