This year JC Endara and Daniel Esparza will be riding in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain 2021 to raise funds for ECHO.
Daniel and JC have been friends for almost 20 years and have taken part in different challenging sporting events in their time – but nothing quite like this one. Together they will ride as a part of team ‘Kael’s Warriors’ in honour of JC’s son Kael, who was born with complex congenital heart defects, and aim to raise £5,000 for ECHO.
Covering 970 miles of Britain’s most scenic landscapes, Ride Across Britain will be a breathtaking challenge. From Land’s End to John O’Groats, the ride will feature some of Britain’s iconic locations, such as, St Michaels Mount.
JC’s experience inspired him to take on this epic challenge, after Kael underwent surgery at just five days old.
“The surgery had been a success, but it had been a brutal 1000 or so stitches. There, we were starting to see how complex the condition was and how strong and brave Kael had been to resist all of it. It will be a long process, but we will cope with it every day.”
"ECHO has been part of our journey ever since, by offering the best mental and physical support, best practices, and things that would make our life easier to manage with our heart toddler.”
“I would like to thank Daniel from the bottom of my heart for his encouragement and for helping us raise awareness of heart conditions.”
After Daniel approached JC, he had encouraged JC to take part in this year’s Ride Across Britain and raise funds for ECHO, “as [Daniel] knew that this charity was very close to our hearts.”
“We cannot thank you all enough for donating, all funds will be used in helping families who are going through what we've been through over the last few years. We are excited to be able to give something back to ECHO for all their hard work, determination, and continuous support."
We would like to send a special thank you to Celon and Chonta UK for sponsoring Daniel and JC on their adventure for ECHO.
At ECHO, we greatly appreciate every amount of money raised by our committed supporters, like Daniel and JC, as we receive no government or NHS funding and rely heavily on donations to carry out our work supporting children with heart conditions and their families. All of the money raised goes towards ensuring ECHO can deliver our valuable services – and we thank everyone who contributes.
