A message from ECHO's Chief Executive

The festive period can be a particularly difficult time to be a parent, child or young person in hospital as they face time away from loved ones while they undergo surgery, treatment and care.

For the second year running, due to COVID-19, families face further isolation due to visitor restrictions and limited access to communal spaces on the hospital wards. Due to these important hospital changes, our annual festive Elf visits, parties and celebrations sadly can’t go ahead. So... We need your help to reach out to every child in hospital this festive season.

With your support, we can ensure the ECHO Toy Chest is packed with books and toys for children to enjoy throughout the festive season and into 2022. Plus, we will be able to provide arts and craft packs for children and young people to enjoy with a specialist play worker, and provide a tea trolly so parents, nurses and doctors can take a much-needed break.

Play workers will use these arts and craft packs to run 1:1 arty sessions with heart children at the bedside. These sessions give children a much-needed distraction from their treatment and recovery, and help them to express their thoughts in a safe and creative space with a dedicated specialist.

How to become a Secret Santa:

To be an ECHO Secret Santa is easy, you can donate via:

Give any amount and be proud that you have made someone's day in hospital brighter over the festive period

We know this past year has been difficult, but with Secret Santas like you we can let children, young people and families in hospital this winter know we are thinking of them 💙

Can you forward this email to someone and invite them to join the Secret Santa club too? The more the merrier!

Kind regards,

Samantha, ECHO Chief Executive
