ECHO is pleased to announce that we are in the customer vote for a Bags of Help grant from Tesco.
Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme which gives community projects grants of up to £4,000 – all raised from the sale of carrier bags in Tesco stores. We have been chosen as one of three charities in the local area who will receive a grant and it is now down to the public to decide who should receive the most funding.
Throughout November and December 2018 you will be able to cast your vote in a number of stores across South London. The more votes we get, the more funding we will receive for ECHO Teens + sibling support – vital and unique services for heart teens and the siblings of children and young people with a heart condition.
Siblings of children with heart conditions are among a vulnerable group of young people who are more likely to experience bullying and family breakdown than other young people in their peer group. Siblings need specific support to show them they are not alone, to encourage them to talk about their role within the family, and to give them the opportunity to enjoy themselves. ECHO supports siblings in a number of ways including activity days, where we offer the opportunity to learn practical skills such as first aid and also trips to places like the zoo.
ECHO are the only group specifically set up for siblings supporting children and young people treated by the Evelina London and its surrounding clinics. To continue to be able to offer and improve this support funding will be important.
To vote for ECHO and help us to continue to provide vital sibling support all you need to do is make a purchase of any value at any participating Tesco store. You do not need to purchase a carrier bag to receive a token.
You will receive one token per transaction which you can then use to vote for either ECHO or one of the other two charities. From Thursday 1st of November to Monday 31st of December 2018 you can cast your votes and the prizes will be awarded in January 2019. The prize for first place will be a grant of £4,000, for second place £2,000 and third place £1,000.
ECHO will be one of the three charities you can vote for in a number of Tesco stores across South London. Here is a list of all the stores you can visit if you would like to cast a vote for ECHO:
