At ECHO, inclusion and diversity are firmly embedded in our culture: help us to visually represent our diverse heart community though the CHD Network Photography Project, organised by ECHO in partnership with Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT), Evelina London and the Royal Brompton and Harefield (RBH).

At ECHO we embrace the opportunity to showcase a truly representative heart community, full of diversity, creating images that accurately represent the patients and families we serve.

ECHO is inviting you to take part in a relaxed, fun photoshoot session to capture photographs which will be used by ECHO, GSTT and RBH hospitals in various communications materials including leaflets, web pages and social media.

The photoshoot is open to all families treated by GSTT, Evelina London and RBH at every stage of their journey with all heart conditions, additional health conditions, learning or physical disabilities, accessibility and additional needs.

Who and Why

People with CHD, Carers and Siblings

• All parents/carers and their children, young people, young adults and older adults with CHD and pregnant people treated by GSTT, Evelina London or the Royal Brompton and their networks are invited.
• We want to capture natural photos of families in a non-clinical setting which will help represent the diversity of families across GSTT & RBH congenital heart networks. This includes but is not limited to gender, ethnicity, sexuality and accessibility representing CHD patients with additional health conditions, learning and physical disabilities in authentic everyday situations.

When and Where

• Date: Saturday 25 September 2021
• Location: The photoshoot will take place in Chislehurst (postcode BR7) where both indoor and outdoor spaces and accessible facilities are available.
• Timings: Our day will run from 11-3:30pm, and you will be allocated a time slot of 2.5 hr slots.

What images will be taken

• Informal, playing, talking, sitting, walking- connecting with other people.
• Please let us know if you would like to take part to capture any other specific images, for example do you use any medical aids, medication/mobility aid/feeding tubes/oxygen/surgical scars – this is not essential.

Where the images will be used

• Your photos could be used in various GSTT, RBH and ECHO communications materials including publications, web pages and social media.

On the day ECHO will:

• provide non-alcoholic refreshments & lunch
• ensure venue has easy car parking and local train station
• refund travel costs if needed (milage or trains) or where needed, ECHO can book you taxi travel to the venue if arriving by train.

ECHO will employ and brief a professional photographer to capture the images. Sam (ECHO’s Chief Executive) and other ECHO staff members will greet you and be on hand to support you on the day.

Due to the ongoing COVID restrictions, numbers will be capped to ensure adherence to our internal policy. We will be looking to run further photo events and would like to hold your name on file (with your permission) if we don’t fit you in this time round. We will be in touch by email to let you know.
