ECHO has established a bereavement grant in order to support parents and carers with a one-off payment of up to £100 to help towards the cost of either travelling to and from the hospital after the loss of their child, or towards the cost of a funeral and memorial.

The application details and process are as follows:

• We take referrals and applications for the grant from professionals, who have knowledge of the bereaved family and their circumstances, e.g.: GP, Evelina staff, psychologists, social workers, family support workers, medical teams from peripheral clinics.
• An ECHO bereavement grant is a one-off payment for parents or carers of children with heart conditions who were treated under the specialist care of the Cardiac Teams at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital at time of death
• Age Rules: children and young people must have been aged 0-19 at time of death
• Type of grant: non-means tested, one-off payment of up to £100
• Complete application online
• We will reply to your request within four weeks of receipt of the application – sooner when possible
• We cannot award grants more than six months post bereavement
• Payments will be made directly into parent/carers bank account by transfer with the reference ECHO UIG, or we can pay a supplier directly if details given
