A message from ECHO's Chief Executive

Will you become an ECHO Secret Santa this year? You’re needed more than ever.

The Christmas period can be a particularly difficult time to be a heart parent, child or young person in hospital as they face time away from loved ones while they undergo surgery, treatment and care.

This year due to COVID-19, families face further isolation due to visitor restrictions and limited access to communal spaces on the hospital wards. Due to these important hospital changes, our annual festive Elf visits, Christmas parties and celebrations can't go ahead, and we need your help to reach out to every child in hospital this Christmas.

With your help we can provide arts and craft packs for children and young people and festive treats for parents and staff supporting them in hospital.

Play workers will use these arts and crafts packs to run 1:1 arty sessions with children at the bedside. These sessions give children a much-needed distraction from their treatment and recovery, and help them to express their thoughts in a safe and creative space with a dedicated specialist.

By joining the ECHO Secret Santa Club you’ll also help to ensure the ECHO Toy Chest in the hospital is packed with books and toys for children to enjoy throughout the festive season and into 2021.

We know this year has been really difficult but with Secret Santas like you and your friends and family we can let families know we are thinking of them.

Thank you for helping us to be there for children, young people and families when they need us most.

Kind regards,

Samantha, ECHO Chief Executive
